We earn advertising and referral fees from many of the brands we rank, and those fees affect where they appear.

Top3 Mattress compares mattresses sold in Australia, and we make our money when a reader buys through one of our links. Brands pay us advertising and referral fees, and those arrangements affect which mattresses we cover and how high they sit in our rankings. Some mattresses here have no arrangement with us at all.

Every mattress is scored against the same ten published criteria, and each of the ten scores is shown alongside the total. What those criteria measure, and how the total is set, are laid out on our How we rate page. The work behind the scores is desk work: we read published specifications, warranty documents and trial terms, and cross-check them against each manufacturer's own pages. We do not buy these mattresses and sleep on them, and no score here comes from in-home testing.

We do not cover every mattress sold in Australia, and the ones we can earn a commission on are more likely to be among the ones we do cover. Prices, trial lengths and warranty terms change without notice, so check the brand's own page before you buy. A ranking here is not a guarantee about a product and not an endorsement of it. Our full terms are set out in the Terms of use.

Your Privacy Rights

Our Privacy Policy sets out what this site collects and why. This page is the practical companion to it: what you are entitled to ask us for under Australian law, how to ask, how long we take, and what to do if you are not happy with the answer.

These rights come from the Australian Privacy Principles in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth). They apply to you wherever you are reading from. Last updated 20 August 2026.

You do not have to identify yourself

You can read every review, ranking and comparison on this site without telling us anything at all. There is no account to create, no wall to get past and no email address to hand over first.

Where you do choose to interact, you can generally use a pseudonym. Comments are published under whatever name you type — it does not have to be your legal one. The only time we need a real address is when you ask us to email you something back, for the obvious reason.

What you can ask us to do

Tell you what we hold about you

You can ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you. We provide it in line with the Australian Privacy Principles, which means we give it to you unless one of the narrow exceptions below applies — and for a site like this one, they rarely will. In practice the copy will be short: any messages you have sent through the contact form, your entry on the subscriber list if you joined it, and any comments you have posted.

There is one thing we genuinely cannot look up. When you like an article or mark a comment as helpful, the site converts your IP address into a one-way hash and stores only that. The hash cannot be reversed, so we have no way of finding which votes were yours — not for you, and not for anyone else who asks. That is the point of storing it that way.

Correct it

If something we hold about you is wrong, out of date, incomplete or misleading, tell us and we will take reasonable steps to correct it. If we are not satisfied that it is wrong, we will tell you why — and you can ask us to attach a note to the record saying you disagree, which we will do.

Delete it

Ask, and we will delete your contact messages, remove you from the subscriber list, and take down comments you have left.

Being straight about this: Australian privacy law does not give you a general right to erasure in the way European law does. It requires us to destroy or de-identify personal information once we no longer need it, which is a different thing. We offer deletion on request anyway, as a matter of policy rather than because we are compelled to. The only limit is information we are legally required to keep.

Stop emailing you

Every email we send carries an unsubscribe link, and asking us directly works just as well. For commercial electronic messages covered by the Spam Act 2003, an unsubscribe request must generally be honoured within five working days. Ours are actioned as soon as we see them.

What there is nothing to opt out of

Some rights that appear on other comparison sites’ privacy pages have nothing to attach to here, and we would rather say so than offer you a switch that does nothing:

  • “Do not sell or share my personal information.” We do not sell, rent or trade personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context advertising. There is no opt-out because there is no sale.
  • Opting out of tracking or profiling. This site runs no analytics, no advertising pixels, no session recording and no retargeting tags, so there is no profile of you to opt out of and nothing to delete.
  • Opting out of automated decisions. Nothing on this site makes automated decisions about you. Our rankings are about mattresses, not about readers, and every visitor sees the same ones.

How to make a request

Email service@top3mattress.com, or use the contact form at the bottom of any page. Tell us:

  • What you want — access, correction, deletion, or unsubscribe
  • Enough for us to find the record: the email address you used, and roughly when
  • For a comment, the review it is on and the name it was posted under

We take reasonable steps to check that a request really comes from you, and how far we go depends on what is being asked for. For the kind of information this site holds, replying from the email address the information is attached to is normally enough. We will not ask you for identity documents we do not need — collecting a scan of your licence to service a privacy request would leave us holding something far more sensitive than what you asked about.

How long we take

We aim to acknowledge requests within a few days, and to respond to access and correction requests within 30 days where that is reasonably practicable. Unsubscribes are immediate in practice. We do not charge for any of this.

When we might say no

We will tell you in writing, with the reason, if we cannot do what you have asked. The realistic cases are:

  • We cannot confirm it is you. We will not hand someone’s messages to whoever asks for them.
  • It would reveal someone else’s information. A comment thread involves more than one person.
  • We do not hold it. Often the honest answer is that there is nothing to give you — see the note about vote hashes above.

If we refuse, we will also tell you how to take it further.

Complaints

If you think we have mishandled your personal information, tell us first: service@top3mattress.com. Set out what happened and what you would like done. We will respond in writing, and most things are quicker to fix this way than through anyone else.

If you are not satisfied with our response — or we do not respond — you can take the complaint to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner, the independent regulator for privacy in Australia. The OAIC will normally expect you to have raised it with us first and given us about 30 days to respond.

Making a complaint to the OAIC is free, and you do not need a lawyer to do it.

If something goes wrong at our end

If a data breach happens here that is likely to cause serious harm to anyone whose information we hold, we will meet our obligations under the Notifiable Data Breaches scheme, which include notifying the affected people and the OAIC where the scheme requires it. We will tell you what happened and what to do about it, rather than a paragraph of reassurance.
