We earn advertising and referral fees from many of the brands we rank, and those fees affect where they appear.

Top3 Mattress compares mattresses sold in Australia, and we make our money when a reader buys through one of our links. Brands pay us advertising and referral fees, and those arrangements affect which mattresses we cover and how high they sit in our rankings. Some mattresses here have no arrangement with us at all.

Every mattress is scored against the same ten published criteria, and each of the ten scores is shown alongside the total. What those criteria measure, and how the total is set, are laid out on our How we rate page. The work behind the scores is desk work: we read published specifications, warranty documents and trial terms, and cross-check them against each manufacturer's own pages. We do not buy these mattresses and sleep on them, and no score here comes from in-home testing.

We do not cover every mattress sold in Australia, and the ones we can earn a commission on are more likely to be among the ones we do cover. Prices, trial lengths and warranty terms change without notice, so check the brand's own page before you buy. A ranking here is not a guarantee about a product and not an endorsement of it. Our full terms are set out in the Terms of use.

Editorial Policy

Top3 Mattress is a mattress comparison site for Australian buyers. This page sets out how we research and score mattresses, how commercial relationships affect the site, and how we correct mistakes.

What we do

We compare mattresses sold to Australian buyers, using the prices, sleep trials and warranty terms that apply in Australia rather than those on a brand’s overseas site. Every mattress is scored against the same ten criteria, and all ten scores are published.

How a review is put together

  1. Collect the published facts. Construction, height, firmness options, prices by size, trial terms, warranty terms and delivery terms, from the brand’s Australian pages — or from its retailers, where the brand does not sell direct.
  2. Read the conditions. Minimum nights before a return, collection fees, delivery areas, what the warranty requires of your bed base and what voids it. This is where brands differ most and advertise least.
  3. Score it. Each mattress gets a score out of 10 for each of the ten criteria. The overall score is our judgement of the mattress as a whole, not a plain average; How We Rate explains how it is set.
  4. Quote buyers, with sources. Buyer reviews we quote come from public review sites such as ProductReview.com.au and Bedbuyer, and each one links back to the original.

What our sources are — and are not

  • Specifications: as published by the brand. Many brands do not publish foam densities, spring counts or coil gauges; where they don’t, we leave the detail out rather than estimate it.
  • Warranty and trial terms: the terms each brand publishes. Where a brand publishes only a summary, the summary is what we read, and the full terms may say more.
  • Certifications: listed only when the brand’s own page names them (for example CertiPUR-US, OEKO-TEX or Global Green Tag). We do not carry a certification over from a different model in the same range.
  • Your legal rights: the consumer guarantees under the Australian Consumer Law apply on top of any brand warranty or trial, and a brand’s terms cannot take them away.

What we do not do: We do not buy these mattresses and sleep on them, and we do not run lab tests. Everything here is based on published specifications and terms. When we describe how a mattress is built, you can check it on the brand’s page; when we say who it suits, that is our reading of the documentation, and you should treat it as an opinion.

Commercial relationships

We earn a commission when a reader buys through a link on this site. It costs you nothing extra. These relationships can influence which brands appear on this site and how they are ranked and scored. We do not cover every mattress sold in Australia, and the ones we can earn a commission on are more likely to be among the ones we do.

What we keep fixed is the method: every mattress is scored against the same ten criteria, and every individual score is published, so you can compare any two mattresses criterion by criterion and weigh them yourself rather than rely on our overall ranking.

Corrections

Brands change prices, models and terms without notice, so parts of this site will sometimes be out of date. If you spot something wrong — as a reader or as a manufacturer — tell us at service@top3mattress.com or through the contact form, with a link to the page and to the brand’s current terms. We check each report against the brand’s own page and correct the review if it is wrong.

Updates

Each review shows a “Specs checked” date: the month we last read the brand’s pages for that mattress. Category pages show when they were last updated. Before you buy, confirm the price, trial and warranty on the brand’s or retailer’s own page — that version binds them; ours does not.
