We earn advertising and referral fees from many of the brands we rank, and those fees affect where they appear.

Top3 Mattress compares mattresses sold in Australia, and we make our money when a reader buys through one of our links. Brands pay us advertising and referral fees, and those arrangements affect which mattresses we cover and how high they sit in our rankings. Some mattresses here have no arrangement with us at all.

Every mattress is scored against the same ten published criteria, and each of the ten scores is shown alongside the total. What those criteria measure, and how the total is set, are laid out on our How we rate page. The work behind the scores is desk work: we read published specifications, warranty documents and trial terms, and cross-check them against each manufacturer's own pages. We do not buy these mattresses and sleep on them, and no score here comes from in-home testing.

We do not cover every mattress sold in Australia, and the ones we can earn a commission on are more likely to be among the ones we do cover. Prices, trial lengths and warranty terms change without notice, so check the brand's own page before you buy. A ranking here is not a guarantee about a product and not an endorsement of it. Our full terms are set out in the Terms of use.

Pros
  • Unzip the cover and reorder three foam layers to change firmness — no return needed
  • Original and Plush editions cost the same, so choosing feel costs nothing
  • A 15-year limited warranty, five years past the standard ten-year term
  • Fire barrier is a woven silica sock rather than a chemical flame retardant
  • The TENCEL cover zips off and washes
  • Each side can be a different firmness, and a half-half queen costs the same $1,649 as a single-firmness one
  • Firmness is changed by swapping foam pads at home — free and unlimited during the 100 nights, in soft, medium, firm or extra firm
  • The cover and both foam layers lift out and can be replaced individually, so one worn part does not mean a new mattress
  • A perimeter zone of high-strength steel springs, so the edge holds when you sit on it
  • Sells direct, so delivery, the guarantee and the warranty all sit with one company
  • Flippable firmness — change your mind without sending it back
  • The 120-night trial includes free returns
  • CHOICE Recommended and ProductReview.com.au awards 2023–2025 — given to the Koala range, not to this model alone
  • All-foam build with Zero Disturbance makes it strong for couples
Worth knowing
  • No sale price is running, so the list price is what you pay
  • A 100-night trial, where 120 is the common figure in this category
  • Memory foam with no spring layer, so it sleeps warm
  • No zoned support is claimed
  • No Afterpay, Zip or other instalment option
  • A queen is $1,649 — $290 more than Emma and $650 more than Koala
  • A 100-night guarantee, the same as Ecosa and shorter than Newentor, Koala, Origin, Onebed and Emma; returns are capped at two mattresses per household
  • Putting it on a sprung or adjustable base voids the 10-year warranty, as do slats more than 12 cm apart
  • The warranty sets a 140 kg limit per sleeper and only counts sagging deeper than 30 mm as a defect
  • The BreatheTech cover carries a 12-month warranty, not the mattress 10 years
  • All-foam, so it runs warmer than a spring hybrid
  • Only five sizes — no Long Single or Super King
  • Three support zones where several rivals offer seven
  • At $999.20 for a Queen it sits well above budget boxed rivals
