We earn advertising and referral fees from many of the brands we rank, and those fees affect where they appear.

Top3 Mattress compares mattresses sold in Australia, and we make our money when a reader buys through one of our links. Brands pay us advertising and referral fees, and those arrangements affect which mattresses we cover and how high they sit in our rankings. Some mattresses here have no arrangement with us at all.

Every mattress is scored against the same ten published criteria, and each of the ten scores is shown alongside the total. What those criteria measure, and how the total is set, are laid out on our How we rate page. The work behind the scores is desk work: we read published specifications, warranty documents and trial terms, and cross-check them against each manufacturer's own pages. We do not buy these mattresses and sleep on them, and no score here comes from in-home testing.

We do not cover every mattress sold in Australia, and the ones we can earn a commission on are more likely to be among the ones we do cover. Prices, trial lengths and warranty terms change without notice, so check the brand's own page before you buy. A ranking here is not a guarantee about a product and not an endorsement of it. Our full terms are set out in the Terms of use.

Pros
  • The 125-night trial has no minimum stay — you can return it in week one
  • Sagging is covered from 20 mm — a shallow threshold, and one Onebed actually publishes
  • Firmness changes by unzipping the cover and flipping the top layers, not by moving the whole mattress
  • Carries both OEKO-TEX and CertiPUR-US certification
  • Free delivery across Australia rather than metro-only
  • Four walls of UniCased XT edge reinforcement, specified by the maker rather than left unstated
  • Four firmness levels at the same price, so choosing the feel costs nothing
  • Stocked in Harvey Norman stores, so you can lie on it before you buy
  • Made in Australia, which Sealy states on the product page
  • A spring core ventilates better than a solid foam core
  • Unzip the cover and reorder three foam layers to change firmness — no return needed
  • Original and Plush editions cost the same, so choosing feel costs nothing
  • A 15-year limited warranty, five years past the standard ten-year term
  • Fire barrier is a woven silica sock rather than a chemical flame retardant
  • The TENCEL cover zips off and washes
Worth knowing
  • All-foam, so there is no spring layer for edge support or airflow
  • Free delivery carries an asterisk — the site says it may not be available for some rural and remote areas, without saying what it costs instead
  • Only two firmness settings — medium and medium-firm, with nothing firmer
  • The instalment amounts are shown but the provider is never named
  • No foam density published, and no weights for any size
  • A queen is $3,699 — around three times Ecosa and six times Newentor
  • No sleep trial, so the showroom is the only chance to test it
  • Sealy does not sell direct; you buy through Harvey Norman
  • The Rosewood build is a Harvey Norman exclusive, so you cannot price-compare it elsewhere
  • The "15% more support" and "four degrees cooler" figures come from Sealy's own testing against unnamed rivals
  • No sale price is running, so the list price is what you pay
  • A 100-night trial, where 120 is the common figure in this category
  • Memory foam with no spring layer, so it sleeps warm
  • No zoned support is claimed
  • No Afterpay, Zip or other instalment option
